Mario Caruso (1935-2025)
Mario Caruso, 90, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025. He was born and raised in Rome, Italy, to Tommaso and Lydia Caruso. After completing his degree as a Geometra from the Leonardo DaVinci Institute in Rome, Mario immigrated to the United States and settled in Boston. By 1965 he had founded and become President of Webster Construction, an award-winning construction company that specialized in historic restoration throughout the state of Massachusetts. Some notable projects included the restoration of the Commander's Mansion at the Watertown Arsenal and the historic T stops of Park Street and Boylston Street.
While living in Boston, he met and married his beloved wife, of nearly 55 years, Birute. They later moved to Weston, Massachusetts, to raise their family. Mario was the devoted father of two sons, Thomas and Paul. Mario’s biggest passion was his family, who he adored and cared for with every ounce of his soul. Mario loved life, and his humor and optimistic view of the world was contagious.
He is survived by his wife, Birute; sister, Bruna; two sons and their spouses, Thomas (John Searles), and Paul (Elizabeth); two beautiful grandchildren, Christian and Lydia; nephew, Jason Mankiewicz; and other cherished family members. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Yanna.
Family and friends are invited to St. Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA for the funeral at 10am on Friday, June 13th to reminisce and honor the life of our beloved, Mario.
