Obituary

Virginia N. “Ginny” Hannaford, 78, a resident of North Reading, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Tuesday, June 3 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

Virginia was born on August 20, 1946 in Somerville and was a daughter of the late Ernest R. Hannaford and the late Rita (Walsh) Hannaford. For her youth, she lived in the family home in Somerville and later at the Paul A. Dever School in Taunton where she excelled. More recently she resided at a group home in North Reading where she was affectionately known as “Boo Boo”.

Virginia loved to laugh and she loved music. She was always smiling and always happy. She also loved trips in the car, especially when it involved singing with her sister.

She is survived by her siblings; Richard Hannaford of Hampton, NH, Grace Coakley and her husband, James, of Tewksbury, Ernest Hannaford and his wife, Helen, of Laconia, New Hampshire, Marilyn Curran and her husband, Joseph of Chelmsford, Mary Ann Whalen of Somerville, Jerry Hannaford of Methuen and Kevin Hannaford of Methuen; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was also a sister of the late Arlene Hannaford and a sister in law of the late Richard Whalen.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please consider a memorial donation in her name to her group home in North Reading at 69 Lowell Road, North Reading, MA.
