John T. Wasdi, 86, of Oak Hill, Virginia died on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in the Indiana Regional Medical Center Intensive Care Unit in Indiana, PA.
John was the son of Wasil and Ann (Fayak) Wasdi. He was born on June 9, 1938 in Commodore, PA. John was the youngest of three sons.
John graduated from high school in the first graduating class at Purchase Line. He was also a graduate of Penn State where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from employment with the United States Government.
He was a member of the Expectation Church in Fairfax, Virginia. John’s very special friend was Val Noring for the last twelve years.
John is survived by his close family members including his brother: Carl K. Hvozda a/k/a: Wasdi and wife Anne; his sister-in-law: Mariam Wasdi; two nieces: Brenda Wasdi and companion Gus and Kristi Hvozda; great nieces: Nikita; Olivia; Hanna and Grace, as well as, nephew, Eric S. Hvozda and wife Jodi. Also surviving are his extended family members of the Hovanec; Neal; Blazosky; Yachisko and Hvozda families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joseph C. Wasdi.
A very special thank you is extended to Citizen’s Ambulance Services for transporting John from Virginia to Heritage Grove on schedule; to Heritage Grove for accepting John upon arrival and responding to his immediate condition and the concerns and treatment of John by the Indiana Regional Medical Center Intensive Care Unit staff. The family of John T. Wasdi sincerely appreciate their efforts.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 2-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd., 18944 Rte 286 Hwy E., Hillsdale, PA. He will be laid to rest with his parents at the East Mahoning Cemetery in Purchase Line, PA.
