Betty Davis Spivey, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with her grandsons Dave Evans and Jake Evans officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Spivey was born December 18, 1939, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Brooks & Susie Odom Davis. She worked as a seamstress at SWS Garment for many years. Following her retirement, she became very involved in the lives of her grandsons, picking them up from school and sharing many precious memories with them. She enjoyed teaching them many life lessons and imparting lots of wisdom upon them, in particular the power of prayer. Her love continued to grow as they got married and began having great-grandchildren for her to love on as well. She enjoyed growing her flowers as well. A devoted Christian and fervent prayer warrior, she was a longtime member and Girls Sunday school teacher at Callie Garbutt Baptist Church. Mrs. Spivey was a member of Arp Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David & Lisa Evans of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: David M. “Dave” Evans, Jr. & Mary Brett of Sarasota, Florida and Jake Evans & Charli of Albany; great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Love Evans, David Michael Evans, III, and Fields Lee Evans; a sister, Frances Roberts of Fitzgerald; and two brothers: Johnny Davis and Jimmy & Helen Davis, all of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Spivey.
