Charles “Charlie” Fitzpatrick
April 29, 1966 – May 31, 2025
Beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Son, Brother, and Friend
Charles “Charlie” Fitzpatrick, also lovingly known as Chuck or Fitzy, passed away peacefully at home in New Bedford, MA on May 31, 2025, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He was 59 years old.
Charlie was the cherished son of Charles Fitzpatrick and the late Linda Carroll, and the beloved stepson of Susan Fitzpatrick.
He is survived by his devoted wife and soulmate, Sheila Fitzpatrick. Their love story was one of loyalty, laughter, and unwavering strength. Charlie often referred to Sheila as his greatest source of strength, but to all who knew them, it was clear they were each other’s rock.
Charlie was a proud and loving father to Justin Reynolds, his wife Sonia & family. Bria Applebaum and her husband Matthew Applebaum of Taunton, and Patrick Reynolds and his partner Sarah Andrews of New Bedford. Becoming a “Papa” brought him immeasurable joy, and he treasured his time with his beloved grandchildren: Madison Applebaum, Dyllan Applebaum, Matthew Applebaum, Skyla Reynolds, and Patrick Reynolds. His heart was fullest when surrounded by his family, especially when his grandkids filled the room with laughter and love.
He is also survived by his brothers Danny Carroll, Mark Violette, and Barry Violette; and his sisters Kerriann (Fitzpatrick) Manley, Michelle Conti, Kelley Cloutman, and Kymm (Fitzpatrick) Connell. Charlie’s love for his siblings was deep and enduring, and he valued each of them dearly.
A die-hard New England sports fan, Charlie’s passion for the Patriots ran deep. Whether they were heading to the Super Bowl or rebuilding for the next season, he cheered with unmatched pride. Sports weren’t just games to him they were tradition, loyalty, and something to believe in. And when he wasn’t watching a game, you’d often find him enjoying the quiet peace of fishing one of his favorite pastimes and a source of calm throughout his life.
Charlie was a man of deep feeling and open honesty. Even in his final months, he spoke from the heart, encouraging others to live fully, love openly, and never wait to make things right. His strength, humor, and wisdom left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Charlie’s life and Visitation will be held Thursday, June 5th from 4-7 pm. Cremation to follow.
And in true Charlie fashion, we say — one last time, and forever:
GO PATRIOTS!
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Charlie’s memory Here.
