Kathy Ann Marley (Mulligan) lifelong resident of Brockton Ma, born December 1st, 1955, passed away suddenly this past Saturday; May 31, 2025.
Kathy was a dedicated daughter to the late; Francis Mulligan and Marilyn Mulligan (Clark).
She was also an exceptional mother, a loving sister, a devoted aunt, and a very proud “Mimi”.
Kathy is survived by: her sister, Joan Parker (Mulligan); brother, Paul Mulligan; daughters, Jennifer Marley and Kristina Marley; nephew, Matthew Parker; grandchildren: Carl Schirmer Jr., Jayce Force, Justys Rideout, Serenity Rideout; great nephew, Owen Parker; and fur baby, Squire.
Kathy held fond memories of being a lifeguard at Montello Pool and growing up in the North Side Projects. She was a city champion swimmer (breaststroke), skilled at playing pool, a math wiz and honestly, there wasn’t much that she tried a hand in that she couldn’t do well. Kathy loved music- from Aerosmith to Eminem- and dance, a gene passed down to her from her mother that she absolutely passed on to her daughters. She was an avid spokesperson for Larry Bird and that era of the Boston Celtics; a long-term New England Patriots and Boston Redsox fan.
She was fluent in sarcasm, loved all things Halloween, and was deeply interested in the practices of witchcraft and Wiccan beliefs pertaining to women and nature. She would bask in storms of warm weather, harsh winds, and rumbling thunder and would get excited with every flash of lightning. She was as cool, edgy, and strong as she was gentle, nurturing, and kind.
Kathy spent her life committed to her two daughters; juggling the roles of both mother and father while making it look easy most of the time. She was a remarkable example of endurance, resilience, and perseverance and what a mother’s love is actually capable of. Maternity was so much of who she was that those instincts reached far beyond her own children.
Kathy was so proud to be a Mimi and had this incredible ability to build bonds with her grandchildren that were so personal, so unique and so independent of one another. She was a safe space for each of them to be unapologetically who they were; a space where they felt seen, understood, and adored. And they were. It was an effortless gift she had. When she believed in you, there wasn’t anything you couldn’t do.
Kathy loved fiercely… fully… and without judgement. Her love knew no bounds. If ever a soul were in need of; love, shelter, food, quiet company, a roaring advocate, guidance, or anything in between- she’d make sure you received it, without hesitation and without expectation. Selflessly taking no inventory of her own capacity before exhausting every bit of who she was for every bit of what another needed.
She gave her whole heart to her life and everyone in it.
Services will be private and a celebration of life will be announced by her daughters.
