Veronica C. "Bonnie" (Geagan) McDonald, a longtime resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at the Bear Hill Nursing Home. She was 95 years of age.
Bonnie was born in Boston on July 14, 1929, a daughter of the late John Geagan and Catherine (Hurley) Geagan. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Mary's Parochial School and Charlestown High School. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Environmental Protection Agency for 10 years until her retirement. She later worked as a sales associate for Lord and Taylor Department Store. Bonnie was an avid reader and was a member of the Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.
Bonnie is the beloved wife of the late Joseph S. "Joker" McDonald. She is the devoted mother of Linda Connolly and her husband Steve, Bill McDonald, Stephen McDonald, David McDonald, and Bonnie Russell and her husband Bill. She is the loving Nana to Shawn Connolly and his wife Theresa, Kristin Kelly and her husband Brian, Joseph McDonald and his fiancé Hannah, Michael McDonald and his partner Molly, Michael Russell, Julie Russell, Patrick Russell, and Nana the Great to Sydney, Faith, Ashley, Stephen, Cameron Connolly, and Caitlin and Emily Kelly. She is the dear sister of the late John Geagan and Ellen Leahy. She is survived by her devoted friend Marie Novello McDonald.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bonnie's visiting hours on Friday morning June 6, 2025 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
