Donna Marie (Mills) Greenwood, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 30, 2025 after a period of declining health. A longtime resident of Derry, NH, Donna was born to the late William and Frances (Bailey) Mills in Boston, Massachusetts on August 15, 1950.
A graduate of Roslindale High, Donna grew up in West Roxbury, MA. She married her late husband, Robert Joseph Greenwood on October 6, 1973. Together, they moved to Derry where they raised 2 children and 8 grandchildren.
Donna and “Big Bob” loved their family, being dog owners, and spending time with friends. They had a group of close friends that they considered family and would spend many nights a week together. They traveled frequently, and especially enjoyed going on cruises and to Las Vegas.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Donna coached cheerleading for the Derry Demons. She enjoyed mentoring the athletes and saw many successes during regional and national competitions. She returned to coaching for a brief period in the early 2000s. Donna worked in accounting and office positions at local businesses before retiring from Bob’s Discount Furniture in 2022.
Donna was loving, strong willed, and outgoing. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She embraced her role as “Grammie” and made many wonderful memories with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Donna was predeceased by her husband in 2016. She is survived by two brothers, Christopher and wife Nida Mills of Weymouth, MA; and William Mills of West Roxbury, MA. She leaves her daughter, Suzanne and husband Robert Jean of Tilton, NH; her son, Robert Jr and wife Jacklynn of Londonderry, NH; grandchildren Brittany, Autumn, Austin, Thomas, Abby, Sarah, Kam, and Willow; nephew Jeffrey Greenwood and his family; nephew Jim Mills and his family; and many extended family members.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Tuesday June 3, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial contributions to be made to the Greater Derry Humane Society at 11 Beaver Lake Road in Derry.
