Odette Gabriel, 100, of Woonsocket died Tuesday May 20, 2025 at The Friendly Home. Born in Port-au-Prince in Haiti she was a daughter of the late Romain and Atrimese (Cesar) Francois. She lived most of her life in the Port-au-Prince area until moving with her family to the United States in 1986. She lived in the Woonsocket area for the past nearly 40 years.
Odette was very talented at cooking and drawing. She loved to sing and spend her free time reading.
Odette’s faith was a very important part of her life. She was a very religiously devout person and was well-versed in the Bible. Even as her advanced age limited what she could do, Odette remained steadfast in her faith. She would often tell those around her that “Prayer is my food and the Word of God in my nutrition”.
Odette will be remembered as a loving mother who cherished all of her family.
Odette is survived by her children Jacques Georges of Center Barnstead, New Hampshire, Gerard Georges, Wilfred Georges, Marie-Josee Georges and Sandra Ambroise all of Woonsocket. She is also survived by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family of nieces and nephews and their families throughout the United States and Haiti. She was predeceased by all of her siblings.
Everyone is invited to gather to honor, remember and pray for Odette at her funeral service Friday May 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket.
Odette will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in North Smithfield. Visiting hours are Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 am prior to funeral services.
