BUXTON- William D. Frank Sr., 80, of Buxton, Maine, died suddenly at his home on May 27, 2025. Born on January 25, 1945, in Palmyra, North Carolina, William lived a vibrant life filled with hard work, love, and an unforgettable personality that lit up every room.
After attending Portland High School, William became a master plumber, earning the respect of his trade and community through his skill, dedication, and hands-on approach. Known for his big personality and generous spirit, he had a knack for bringing laughter and warmth to those around him—often with a story or a quick-witted remark like, “I’ll let you get back to your misery.” Every morning, without fail, he sent out a cheerful “good morning” text to family and friends—a simple ritual that spoke volumes about his love and thoughtfulness.
He was always willing to lend a hand or tackle any project for friends and family, often with what he called “brute force and ignorance” and a “Frank good enough” effort.
William found joy in tending to his “girls,” the medicinal plants he lovingly cultivated, a reflection of his nurturing nature and unique zest for life. He also cherished bonding with his sons and friends on motorcycle rides, where his free spirit truly came alive. His larger-than-life presence and unforgettable humor left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet Frank. He is survived by his "baby girl" daughter, Melissa Lovejoy; his sons, William Frank Jr. and his partner, Roxanne Gardner; Kenneth Frank and his partner, Ronnie Hutchinson; and Robert Cochran and his wife, Kim Cochran.
He was the proud grandfather of Ashley, Brianna, Cali, Corey, Creed, Jackie, Josh, Kyle, Liz, Logan, Meghan, and Sierra; and great-grandfather to Avery, Carissa, Luke, Madison, Matthew, Noah, Oaklee, and Olivia. His absence will be deeply felt by all who were touched by his warmth, humor, and fierce love.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday June 5th from 6 – 8 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Burial will be private at South Buxton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Autism Society of Maine or the Dempsey Center, two causes close to the family's heart.
William’s memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
