Paul E. Hallett

Paul E. Hallett, 78, of Scarborough, Maine, formerly of Island Falls and Gorham, passed away at home on May 28, 2025.
Born on January 30, 1947, in Presque Isle, Paul was a beloved son of Dorothy Gorman Hallett and Burrell Cecil Hallett. He graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1965 and went on to attend Northeastern University before earning his degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Paul spent his career specializing in water and fuel treatment, a field in which he was deeply knowledgeable and respected. Yet, it was the great outdoors that truly brought him joy. He was most at peace fishing, boating, and later in life, lovingly restoring and building wooden boats during his retirement.
A committed community member, Paul gave generously of his time to several local organizations and was most recently a proud and active member of the Island Falls Lakes Association, where he continued to share his passion for Maine’s natural beauty.
Paul was predeceased by his brothers, John Hallett and Cecil Hallett. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Charlotte Splan Hallett; his loving daughter, Stacy Donohue, her husband Aaron Shields; and cherished grandchildren, Maggie Donohue and Bennett Donohue.
Paul’s legacy is one of quiet strength, dedication, and a deep appreciation for nature and craftsmanship. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Island Falls Lakes Association.
