Janis “Bambi” Cirss, 93, of Norton died on Saturday August 19, 2006 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Leontine (Karklins) Cirss who died on June 20, 1990.
Born in Latvia on January 11, 1913 he was a dear son of the late Aloizs and Anna (Lociks) Cirss.
He was educated in Latvia and while in Latvia he received an Associate Degree in Business majoring in accounting. In Latvia he worked as an accountant employed by the Town of Preili.
Mr. Cirss moved to America; first settling in the Roxbury section of Boston. He worked as a Shipping Manager in charge of bakery products at Stop & Shop for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of the Confectionary Bakers Union. He later moved to Norton in 1960.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. He was proud to have built his own home in Norton. He lived for gardening and being with his loving family. He was an avid supporter of local community organizations. He possessed a genuine kindness and could always be relied on to help his fellow neighbors.
He is survived by his devoted son Gunars Rutkovskis of Norton. His 3 cherished granddaughters; Monica Rutkovskis of Norton, Ines Rutkovskis of Boulder, Colorado and Sabine Rutkovskis of Norton. His adored 3 great grandsons; Connor, Alec and Tristan. He was predeceased by his 6 siblings
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday August 22nd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, South Worcester St., Norton. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury.
