Deborah Lynn Cutting, 73, of Leicester, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
She will be lovingly missed by her siblings: Pamela Mason, with whom she lived; Brian Boothby and his wife, Michelle of Southbridge; and Pamela Deming and her husband, Bill of Leicester. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, including Kimberly Mason and her wife, Colleen O'Leary of Leicester, and Scott Mason and his wife, Tara, of Concord, NH—both of whom were like children to Deb. She found immense joy in her three great-nephews: Teigan, Vincenzo, and Giovanni, who brought light and laughter into her life. She was predeceased by Lawrence Boothby, Larry Boothby, her brother; Lisa Boothby, her sister; and her brother-in-law, James Mason.
Born in Worcester, Deb was the daughter of the late Donald Cutting and Pauline (Winslow) Boothby. She attended Woodland Prep and graduated from South High School before earning her associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Quinsigamond Community College.
A dedicated and skilled worker, Deb spent over 30 years at Parker and Harper in CNC machining, quality control, programming, tool procurement, and tool making. She retired in 2023 after 17 years as a quality control inspector with Allied Manufacturing.
Auntie Deb was a one-of-a-kind soul whose warmth, laughter, and unwavering kindness touched everyone she met. She loved deeply and gave generously, never asking for anything in return. Among the many ways she expressed her compassion was through her commitment to rescuing nine senior dogs and a tuxedo cat, offering them love, comfort, and a second chance at life. That was her nature: to nurture, to comfort, and to love without limits.
An avid reader and quiet spirit, Auntie Deb found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially family summers at Kingsbury Beach and cherished time at Camp on Glen Echo Lake, places that remained close to her heart since childhood.
Her legacy of love, generosity, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her funeral is Saturday, June 7th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant Street, Worcester. A visitation will be held from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 111 Young Road, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
