Carolyn A. (Friguglietti) Smith, age 81, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Michael Smith, to whom she was wed for thirty-seven years.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina on January 16, 1944, she was a loving daughter of the late Francis X. and Angela (Danilowicz) Friguglietti.

Being the daughter of an Army father, Carolyn lived in various locations prior to her family settling down in Worcester. She was educated in Worcester schools and received both a Bachelor’s Degree in Voice and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from the New England Conservatory of Music. At college, she met her future husband and together they performed on WGBH Radio. Carolyn later returned to her studies, receiving a Master’s Degree in English.

Carolyn’s greatest passions in life were her love for family, music and teaching. As an educator, she taught both high school and middle school students as an English Teacher in Norton for twenty-five years, prior to retiring. She also taught voice from her home in Norton, was a member of the Chaminade Music Club of Attleboro and formerly performed at Tanglewood in Lenox.

A resident of Norton for over fifty years, Carolyn was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church, serving as a former longtime soloist, cantor and choir member. She was an avid gardener and will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills and the happiness she received singing along with the Metropolitan Opera radio broadcasts while preparing her delicious meatballs and spaghetti sauce.

She is survived by her devoted children, Carolyn E. Smith of Norton, Sara M. Smith of Taunton and Peter C. Smith and his wife Dawn of Assonet. She was the adoring grandmother of Steven Joseph, Garrett Russell and Braeden Thomas. She was the dear sister of Frank Friguglietti and his wife Kathy of Westfield. She was the much-loved niece of Louis Tripodi and the cherished aunt of Theresa, Leigh and Brian.
