Louis J. Desy, 87, of Worcester, died Sunday, May 25th at home. He is survived by his two sons, Louis J. Desy, Jr. of Shrewsbury and Leon J. Desy and his wife, Maria of Millbury; his daughter, Jesmyn Desy and her husband, Steve Babin of Keller, TX; two grandsons and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his two siblings, Owen J. Desy and Judith Anderson.
He was born in Fall River, the son of Owen R. Desy, Sr. and Margaret (Powers) Desy and had served in the Army. Louis had worked as a union electrician for many years and later taught at Worcester Vocational Tech and then continued as a substitute teacher there until 2020. His love of astronomy was well known. He was a long-time active member of St. Stephen's Parish, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as the Springfield Telescope Makers and the Aldrich Astronomical Society. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, June 3rd from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with his funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Please omit flowers.
