Flora Mae Stubbs, 91, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, August 18, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Monday, August 21, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Barry Gordon and Rev. David Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stubbs was born July 5, 1915 in Tifton, Georgia, to the late Charles F. and Sarah Crowell Beanblossom. Her family, the Crowell’s from Kansas, were pioneer families who settled in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Stubbs moved back to Fitzgerald in 1974 from Lincoln Park, MI. She was a homemaker and an Avon Sales Representative. She was a member and big supporter of Crossview Baptist Church and a member of the Nancy Gordon Sunday School Class, where she was the secretary and treasurer. She was former member of Inter City Baptist Church in Allen Park, MI, where she was the pianist and Sunday school teacher for the children’s department. Mrs. Stubbs was an avid supporter of her children’s school, a member of the PTA and served as Room Mother.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Larry E. & Beverly Stubbs of Fitzgerald; 6 grandchildren: Suzanna E. Hughes, Nathan E. Stubbs, Matthew E. Stubbs, Kayla E. Stubbs, Jonathan E. Stubbs and Alissa E. Stubbs; 3 great-grandchildren: Abegail Stubbs, Colin M. Hughes and Alec T. Hughes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Leonard E. Stubbs, a son, Leonard E. Stubbs, Jr. and 3 brothers.
