Obituary

Douglas J. DeCosta, 75, of Manchester, NH, passed away Monday May 26, 2025, after a period of declining health in Crestwood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Milford, NH. He was born on November 21, 1949 in Somerville, MA, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Manita) DeCosta. Doug was raised in Somerville, where he attended and graduated from Somerville High School. After high school, he enlisted in the military. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during Vietnam. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Doug attended and graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Later he moved to Londonderry, NH where he spent most of his life raising his family and being an active member in his community. He was a founding member of the Saint Marks Catholic Church, where he was also an active member. He helped start the Londonderry Basketball club organization in town and was a board member and coach for many years. Coaching basketball was a passion of his. He enjoyed spending winters up in the mountains skiing and summers at the lakes.

Most of all Doug loved being a grandfather and spending time with his grandkids and watching them play sports and cheering them on.

He is survived by his wife Maya (Grigoryeva) DeCosta, his daughter, Jennifer Kennedy and her husband Joby, his two sons, Joseph DeCosta and his wife DeeDee and David DeCosta and his wife Katosha; a step-son Nick Michaels and his wife Bree, five grandchildren, Brenden, Ella, Lucas, Landon and Alexandra; one sister, Andrea M. DeCosta-Carlson; his best friend whom was like a brother to him, James A. Cormier; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Following cremation, memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The funeral services will begin at 12:30 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Pillsbury Cemetery, Hovey Rd., Londonderry, NH.
