Obituary

PRENDERGAST, Ellen Marie (Killion) of Marshfield, formerly of Norwood, Jamaica Plain and Mission Hill. Ellen Prendergast passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025 at the age of 68, after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Ellen was the beloved wife of Jack Prendergast, whose unwavering love and care were a constant comfort throughout her illness. Born in Boston, Ellen was the cherished youngest of nine children born to Thomas and Catherine Killion of Mission Hill.

She leaves behind her loving sister Margaret Tarmey of Weymouth, and her devoted brothers Michael and his wife Sheila of Roslindale, James Killion and his wife Brianne of Norwood, Peter and his wife Deborah also of Norwood. Ellen was predeceased by her sisters Mary Looby and her husband Peter, Patricia Killion, Pauline Campbell and her husband Thomas as well as her brother John and his wife Jeanne.

Ellen’s memory will be treasured by her many nieces and nephews, who adored their Aunt Ellen, and by the extended Prendergast family, to whom she was a much loved sister-in-law and aunt.

A proud graduate of Mission High School, Ellen went on to earn her Bachelor of Science from UMass Boston. She spent most of her professional life with the Mark Harmon Law Firm in Newton, where she was known for her dedication and warmth.

Ellen’s greatest joy was her family. She had a passion for music and dancing and she delighted in skiing, golf, traveling with Jack and their loved ones —exploring Europe, the American West, California and Florida. She cherished her book club and was always eager to share Jack’s Aunt Betty’s famous Irish Bread recipe with friends and family.

Ellen’s kindness, humor and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
