Obituary

NORTH GROSVENORDALE, CT – Robert A. “Bob” Lekstrom, Sr., 82, died Thursday, May 22, 2025 at home of progressive supranuclear palsy, with his beloved family by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra L. (Woodbury) Lekstrom; a son, Robert A. “Rob” Lekstrom, Jr. and his husband Jessie Lekstrom of Los Angeles, CA; a daughter, Christine E. Rothwell and her husband Benjamin of Eastford; a grandson, Landon Maddox; a sister, Sandra A. Lefrancois and her husband Robert of Graham, NC; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Lekstrom and Brenda Lekstrom, both of Rochdale; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brothers Gerald W. Lekstrom and David C. Lekstrom.

He was born in Worcester on December 10, 1942 and raised in the Rochdale section of Leicester, a son of Robert E. and Kathleen M. (Turner) Lekstrom. He was a 1961 graduate of Leicester High School and attended Worcester Junior College. He moved here in 1968.

He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era.

Mr. Lekstrom was a dental service technician at the Henry Schein Dental in Westboro for over 30 years, retiring in 2010.

He was an active member of Saint Louis Church in Webster, MA. As a graduate of the Master Catechist Program and the Adult Biblical Program, both of the Diocese of Worcester, he taught in the CCD program for 20 years as well as the confirmation program. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the Pastoral Council. He took part in the Soup Kitchen and the Couple to Couple Ministry. He was also a teacher in the Adult Education Program. He was a former member and past trustee of the Serra Club of Southern Worcester County.

He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing, traveling and bird watching. He was a member of the Valley Springs Sportsman Club of Thompson where he served as treasurer, financial secretary and then vice president. His favorite pastime was spending quality time with his family.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, May 28, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster, MA with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street, Webster, MA. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, in the funeral home.
