SPRINGFIELD – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia E. "Pat" (Mahoney) Mc Cabe, 91, a former longtime resident of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield. She was Called Safely Home on Monday, May 19, 2025 at the Agawam West Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on May 10, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late John Edward Mahoney Sr. and Catherine Dorothy "Kitty" (Ryan) Mahoney. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School and Sacred Heart High School, both in Springfield. She was a Legal Secretary for the former Murphy Law in Springfield, and later was employed at the Mercy Hospital Credit Union. She was last employed in the Retirement Department at Mass Mutual Life Insurance in Springfield and retired in 1998. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and at the former Our Lady of Hope Church, both in Springfield where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and volunteered for CCD, weekly bingo, and parish bazaars. She was an avid New England sports fan cheering on the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. She was a life member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club in Springfield and was very active at the Knights of Columbus Unity Council No. 2212 in West Springfield. Pat enjoyed golfing and bowling in the Our Lady of Hope Women's League. She was "addicted" to the Game Show Network and looked forward to her many trips to the Irish Village on Cape Cod. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Richard J. "Dick" Mc Cabe who was Called Home on April 1, 2011. They were married on June 7, 1958 at Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving and devoted children, Mark S. Mc Cabe of Boston, Maureen M. Tsatsos of Westfield, and Meg A. Mc Cabe of Colorado; her two cherished grandsons, Matthew and Nathaniel Tsatsos; her dear sister, Linda Mahoney of Chicopee; her dear brother, James Mahoney of Springfield; her former son-in-law, Anthony Tsatsos of Westfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, John Edward "Eddy" Mahoney, Jr. who was Called Home on September 25, 2018. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to her Mass. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the John Boyle O'Reilly Club, 33 Progress Avenue, Springfield, MA 01104.
