Obituary

Barbara A. (Doherty) McIsaac, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 72 years of age.

Barbara was born in Winthrop on November 21, 1952, a daughter of the late John E. Doherty and Edna B. (Lannon) Doherty. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Julia Billiard High School in The North End of Boston. Barbara furthered her education and received her Associates Degree from Wheelock College. Barbara worked for many years as a Teacher for the Kennedy Center Head Start program in Charlestown. She then worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston in administration for over 17 years.

Barbara was very proud of her Irish heritage and being a proud Townie. She was always listening to Irish music and also enjoyed traveling to Aruba and vacationing up in Derry, New Hampshire where she enjoyed fishing. Family was paramount in Barbara's life, and she cherished every day of her life with her 3 children and especially had been a very proud source to her grandchildren whom she adored.

Barbara is the beloved wife of the late James J. McIsaac. She is the devoted mother of Kelly Eagan and her husband Patrick, James J. McIsaac Jr. and Erin Grealish. She is the loving Nana to Patrick, Catherine, Kinley and Colie. Barbara found a second chance in life for love with her partner Mike McMaster. She is the dear sister of Jean Prince and her husband Edward, John F. Doherty and his wife Candice and the late retired Boston Police Officer Dennis E. Doherty. She is also the loving aunt to Eddie, Laurie, Shawn and Jennifer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barbara's Funeral on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 12 Noon. Her burial will be private. Her visiting hours will be on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
