Kevin Charles Burns
March 20, 1975 – May 14, 2025
Kevin Charles Burns, age 50, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by family and loved ones, following complications from a massive heart attack.
Kevin was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. Known for his kind spirit, quick wit, and unwavering loyalty, he worked for many years at AutoZone in Weymouth, where he was a dependable team member and a familiar face to customers and coworkers alike. He also took great pride in his skill and precision as a hardwood flooring specialist.
Born in 1975, Kevin spent most of his life in Massachusetts. He graduated from Weymouth High School in the Class of 1993 and later served in the United States Army. A lifelong sports fan, Kevin especially loved football. He proudly played for Weymouth Pop Warner and Weymouth High School, cherishing those memories and often retelling stories from his “glory days.” He carried his Wildcat pride everywhere—literally—often showing his Weymouth Wildcat tattoo as proof that once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.
Kevin had a special bond with his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. His playful spirit, big laugh, and warm presence made him a favorite among the younger generation. A gifted storyteller with a compassionate soul, Kevin had an uncanny ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Even in difficult times, he remained fiercely protective of his family and friends and never lost his sense of humor.
Kevin is survived by his loving parents, Mary (Rinella) and Russell Burns of Milford; his siblings, Kimberly Johnson and her husband Mark of Milford; Russell Burns Jr. of Quincy; and Michelle Carr and her partner Steven Esmail of Asheboro, NC. He is also survived by his beloved son, Brayden Burns of Weatherford, TX, whom he loved deeply and proudly.
He is fondly remembered by his former wife, Heather Nye of Weatherford, TX, and her children—RJ Sweeney of Weatherford, and Alyssa Murray and her husband Nick of Pembroke—as well as their four beautiful children, McKinley, Harlee, Remy, and Andrew, all of whom Kevin cared for deeply.
Kevin shared a close and caring relationship with his companion, Amy Ward Green of Weymouth.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the exceptional care team at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Cardiac ICU. Their compassion and dedication during Kevin’s final days will never be forgotten.
Kevin’s warmth, humor, and steadfast love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Albert the Great Church on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at a location to be announced.
Kevin will be laid to rest alongside his beloved Uncle CB at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kevin’s memory may be made to a custodial account established at Fidelity Investments to support his son Brayden’s future. For donation details, please visit Kevin’s memorial website:
