Concetta “Tina” Marino, age 94, of Revere passed away on Tuesday, May 13th, at Courtyard Nursing Care Center of Medford. Born and raised in Augusta, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Andrea and Giuseppina (Saia) Marino. Tina immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 21 and lived in Medford, later moving to Revere, and was employed as a tailor. She later owned and operated Concetta's Motel and restaurant in New Hampshire for a number of years before pursuing other entrepreneurial endeavors.
Tina was an avid cook and enjoyed making meals for family and friends. Her specialties were her homemade meatballs, tomato sauce and pasta and her fire-roasted, marinated peppers. Some of her other favorite activities included playing card games, sewing, and tending to her house plants and flowers. Tina loved to spontaneously and endearingly sing verses of songs to those around her; whenever she heard the sounds of her favorite Italian songs (especially those by Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti), she would mellifluously sing along. Tina would light up the room anywhere she went with her charm, quick-witted humor, playful banter, and infectious laughter. She had an unmistakably unique and unforgettable personality, and she will forever be remembered by all who loved her.
Tina was the beloved wife of Kostas Kourinos, and a devoted mother to her children, Victor Marino, Ronald Marino, Monica Marino, Mark Marino, and Andrew Marino. She was the beloved stepmother of Tony Kourinos. She is survived by her grandchildren Andrew Marino, Nichole Marino, Sabrina Marino, Tony Marino, and Isabella Marino, and great grandchildren Concetta and Mason Marino. She was the loving sister of Maria Lanzerotta and the late Lucia Gabriello. She was the beloved Godmother of Michael Lanteri and a dear friend of Ann Lanteri.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 23rd from 4 through 6 PM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
