LONGMEADOW - Desmendo "Diana" (Plumpides) Kannavos, 95 of Longmeadow, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. She was born in Pittsfield on January 28, 1930, a daughter of the late William G. and Efthimia (Alexopoulos) Plumpides. She was raised in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School. She was employed for 32 years at the former Baystate Gas Company where she worked as an Executive Secretary to the President and retired from the Engineering Department. In retirement, she enjoyed working at Friendly's in Longmeadow where she often said she was the "Hostess with the Mostest." She was a longtime communicant of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield where she was a member of the former Daughters of Penelope. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Apostolos "Paul" Kannavos. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Thamy K. Grogan of Longmeadow, and Mary (Joe) Freeth of Thousand Oaks, CA; her two loving grandchildren whom she adored, Christopher Grogan and Nina Grogan; her two nephews, John Stathakis and William Stathakis; and many cousins and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her twin sister, Despina "Despo" Stathakis. Diana will Lie in Repose on Wednesday morning, May 21, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. which will be followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her burial will follow the Service at Longmeadow Cemetery, 31 Williams Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106. Her family would like to thank the caring staff at Agawam West for their kindness and concern.
