Maria (DiPietro) Luciano, of Everett, formerly of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 14th. She was 78. Born and raised in Calore, Italy she was the cherished daughter of the late Antonio and Rosella (Lepore) DiPietro. Maria met the love of her life Raffaele in Italy; they married in 1967. They were married for almost 50 years. Maria and Raffaele settled in Boston’s North end for 17 years and then later moved to Everett.
Maria was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Leonard’s Church and enjoyed being a cook at the rectory for over 40 years. Maria’s biggest passion was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all of those who had the privilege to have met her.
Maria was the beloved wife of the late Raffaele “Ralph” Luciano. She was the devoted mother of Anthony Luciano of North Reading and his fiancé Jen of Andover. She was the loving grandmother of Michael and Matthew Luciano both of Boston. She was the dear sister of the late Lena Trodella and her late husband Pietro, late Carmen DiPietro and his surviving wife Emanuela and Antonietta Cotugno and her husband Gerardo, all of Italy. She was the caring sister in law of the late Carmela Trodella and her late husband Guiseppe, Angela Luciano, and Theresa Luciano all of East Boston, and Pasquale and Angelo Luciano both of Italy. She is also the proud owner of her dog’s Bella and Ceasar. Maria is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, friends and Anthony’s fiancé Jen’s children Costa and Alexia.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Maria’s family at Saint Leonard’s Church, 320 Hanover St., Boston, on Monday May 19th, from 9 AM to 10 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 AM. Interment will be private.
