Christine Louise (Knab) Michelinie, a longtime resident of Andover, MA passed away on May 7th at the age of 74. She was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in September of 2022 and finally succumbed to it in May of 2025.
Christine was born in Morristown, NJ on July 27, 1950, daughter of the late Teresa (Serpentelli) Knab and Emil Knab. She was a proud graduate of Hanover Park High School in East Hanover, NJ.
Following high school Christine attended Stanford University for Radiation Therapy, which, at the time, was a field in its infancy. This education launched her into a lifelong career in healthcare.
Christine was a radiation therapist at Massachusetts General Hospital working in the Oncology Department for over 25 years. Christine loved her work and all the amazing people she worked alongside with, many of whom would end up taking care of her during her own radiation treatment. Her family will forever be grateful for the care she received from them and from MGH.
Christine had a strong Christian Faith and was an active member of the Andover Baptist Church where she was a part of their choir and weekly services. She enjoyed helping those in the church community whenever she could. She was also a highly skilled craftsperson, having perfected many different handicrafts such as basket making, needle point, quilting, knitting and sewing. Her memory will live on with all of the precious pieces she made for her grandchildren.
Christine is survived by her three sons: Daniel Michelinie and his wife Erin of Hampstead, NH, James Michelinie and his wife Kyra of Portland, OR, and Peter Michelinie and his wife Cassidy of Barnard, VT. Christine leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Ava Charlotte, Lea Grace, Sofia Elizabeth, Liliana Rose, Weston Luke, Louise Jean, and Thomas June. She is also survived by her sister Rita Dougherty-Simpson, brothers Daniel Knab, and Michael Knab and predeceased by her brother Dr. Richard Knab.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service on May 31st at the Andover Baptist Church in Andover, MA. Service is scheduled at 11:00 and will be followed by a mercy meal in the church.
Christine will be remembered for her love of her grandchildren, her strong faith and love of the beach, Crane’s Beach especially.
In lieu of flowers, Christine's request was that donations be made to Mass General Hospital for Glioblastoma research or blinknow.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of Nepal’s youth.
