Marianne (Mozzicato) Wilcox, 86, of Medford and Billerica, MA, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, after a year’s long battle with depression and dementia – cruel afflictions for one so talented, energetic, and generous. The daughter of James and Margaret (Ahern) Mozzicato, she is predeceased by her parents and brothers John and James, her husband William Wilcox, and her son Ian Wilcox.
Marianne is survived by her sisters Nancy (Mozzicato) Allison and Catherine Mozzicato, CSJ, as well as her remaining children Gwen Wilcox of Somerville, MA, Eric Wilcox of Thornton, CO, and Colin Wilcox and his wife Erin and grandchildren Wyneth and Wyatt of Sagamore Beach, MA.
Marianne was a renaissance woman: a wife and mother, able cook, host of holidays, seamstress, costume creator, painter, sculptor, carpenter, electrician, furniture maker, fine woodworker, and barber. She was the moral compass and North Star to her four children and husband. She never turned away a stray animal and over the years her beloved pets included a skunk, three dogs, a tortoise, and a cat. She was legendary for her unique self-designed Christmas cards with which she stayed connected to hundreds of friends and family. The cards spoke of love, faith, peace, family, and sometimes politics – all things that meant a great deal to Marianne. One of her most important roles was as a grandmother who left a lasting impact on her grandchildren through her stories, antics, and compassion. They are saddened by the space she has left behind and wish she were still here to fill it. She made a difference in many lives.
A combined Celebration of Life for Marianne and Ian is planned for Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 2-5pm, at the outdoor pavilion at the Billerica Elks Club, 14 Webb Brook Road, Billerica, MA. If inclined, charitable donations may be made to the Billerica Scholarship Foundation for the Ian Wilcox Memorial Scholarship, 365 Boston Road, Billerica, MA 01821.
