Peggy Joyce Owens Stegall “Puddin”, 84, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 2PM, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Steve Hand officiating. The interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6PM until 8PM, at the funeral home.
Ms. Stegall was born January 18, 1941, in Irwin County to the late Joseph Owens and Minnie Pierce. She graduated High School in Florida class of 58, and then again in Fitzgerald, Georgia in 59. A business woman by trade, she put in the hard work that was necessary to be successful. She had a great work ethic and instilled those values in her family whom was most important to her. She celebrated each of their achievements; they were her pride and joy. Ms. Stegall owned and operated the Chicken Coop Restaurant in Fitzgerald, and will always be remembered for her excellent breakfast. Ms. Stegall’s favorite saying was “there’s some good in everybody”. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Scott Stegall & Renee’, and Kim Farmer & Dennis all of Fitzgerald; 4 grandchildren: Emily Williams & Austin, Anna Stegall, Abby Farmer, and Austin Farmer; 2 great grandchildren: Weston Enfinger and Mckenzie James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Stegall Jr., and her siblings: Jack Owens, Melba Thompson, Eunice Robinson, Betty Hall, Margaret Mitchell, Darrell Owens, and D.C. Owens.
