Stanley Jasiewicz, Uncle Stanley, Stosh. This beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend left us on May 11th, 2025, two days shy of his 80th birthday. Born in Chicopee, his dreams were bigger which led him to serve his country and travel the world. He joined the Navy in 1965 and served during Vietnam on the USS Enterprise. Here he experienced two life changing events - the first was the explosion and subsequent fire on the carrier that took the lives of 28 shipmates and the second, a love of traveling and exploring. While serving, he took the opportunity to see the beauty of Asia. When he returned to Chicopee in 1969, he came home with stories of his travels which would delight (and sometimes annoy) his family. Although a man of the world, he felt an obligation to his family and made his home in Chicopee. Although he never married or had children of his own, Uncle Stanley became an influential role model for generations of nephews and nieces. He shared his hobbies with his family. Some of his hobbies - fishing, the love of nature, Quabbin Reservoir, the weather, gardening - became passions for the next generation. Some of his hobbies, while they didn’t catch on with others, defined who Stanley was. Minerals, tropical fish, strange healthy foods, good vacuum cleaners. He was a bright light who made everything better. His kind and gentle way set an admirable example for all of us. Stanley was not always dealt a fair hand in life, but he lived with love and gusto and above all else, dedication to his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Bertha and his sister Carroll Lavigne of Chicopee. He leaves behind a broken-hearted family including his sister and best friend, Dorothy McGaffigan of Indian Orchard, brother-in-law Bob Lavigne of Chicopee, his nephews Rob Lavigne, Patrick McGaffigan, Shawn McGaffigan, nieces Corrine Madamba and Cathleen McGaffigan, 6 great nephews (and two great-great nephews), 3 great nieces, and numerous cousins. According to Stanley’s wishes, there will be no services. His memory will live on with all those who knew him. Fair winds and following seas, Stosh.
