William (Bill) D. McKeehan of Ventura, California, rode into heaven's sunset on April 17, 2025. He was born in the summer of 1936 in Williams, Arizonia.
He enlisted in the US Navy at 17 years of age and served for 4 years. Afterwards Bill worked for Southern California Edison his entire career, retiring as a Station Manager for Santa Barbara County.
Bill is survived by his wife Alta, his sons Duffey (wife Cheryl) and Jodee, stepson Wes (wife Ann) and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Vonne, his daughter Wendy and his stepsons David and Roland.
After a "wake up call" heart event, Bill drew strength and peace from God. Ever after, his faith did not waiver. Reflecting on his life, Bill was content, grateful for his family, his good friends and rich travels. He was a generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was always there for his kids, beaming at their accomplishments and encouraging their
talents.
Bill enjoyed the great outdoors and a variety of sports, especially golf and fishing. Rain or shine, the Saturday morning plan was visiting local garage sales and Bill always had an eye out for tools, golf clubs and Western-themed treasures. Aside from being an electrician, Bill was handy with woodworking tools and built many things, including a Thomas the Tank Engine train table and a storage shed reminiscent of the Old West with his grandsons. He could fix many things and would gladly share his skills with others. He loved all things western, from antiques to horses to music; he was a true cowboy.
Of all the hats he wore, it could be said his favorite was a toss-up between husband, grandpa and cowboy. He was a good man and will be missed by all who knew him. So long, Amigo!
"... the last goodbye is the hardest one to say... this is where the cowboy rides
away..."
