Gordon Allen Sanborn and Donna Avis (Dunton) Sanborn

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their parents, Gordon A. Sanborn and Donna A. Sanborn.
BUXTON – Gordon Allen Sanborn, age 86, passed away on April 9, 2025, at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford. He passed away from natural causes.
Gordon was born April 4, 1939, in Limington Maine, a son of the late Leo and Alice (Perkins) Sanborn of Limington. He graduated from Limington Academy in 1957, and his yearbook lists him as Class President his junior year, Vice President freshman year and Prize Speaking sophomore and junior years. After he graduated from Limington Academy he enlisted in the US Naval Reserve Service in September 1957. From there he was Honorably Discharged on February 17, 1963.
Gordon was head of maintenance at Shape Industries in Biddeford for 25 years. He also worked as a salesman at Lee’s Trailer sales in Windham for 10 years. After he retired, he worked part-time as a school bus driver for MSAD #6, for 4 years.
In his younger days he enjoyed playing guitar and the harmonica. He was an avid photographer and would develop his own pictures in a dark room. He also enjoyed filming with his projector. His favorite hobby after retirement was riding his bike on the mountain division trails.
Gordon is survived by one sister, Virginia Warren of Buxton.
BUXTON – Donna Avis (Dunton) Sanborn, age 84, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at her son Scott’s house in Standish. She passed away from natural causes.
Donna was born November 20, 1940, in Portland, Maine, a daughter of the late Kenneth Sr. and Gloria (Rand) Dunton of Gorham. She graduated from Gorham High school in 1958. Donna worked a few short-term jobs until she found her niche in life as a secretary at Bonny Eagle High School in 1971 and retired in 2006. She made many friends over the years, and she loved her job. She would never discriminate against anyone and was always willing to get to know people as she was a very social person, and this atmosphere with school staff and students was where she thrived. Her favorite hobby was gardening during the summers off, and she had many beautiful flowers and plants – she definitely had a green thumb.
Donna is predeceased by one brother, Kenneth Dunton, Jr., and one sister, Janet Stinson. She is survived by one brother, Gary Dunton of Sebago.
Gordon and Donna married on September 27, 1958, and built their house on Flaggy Meadow Road in Buxton where they raised their family. They travelled extensively over the years however their travels to Temagami Canada with Donna’s parents every year was their highlight.

Gordon and Donna are survived by their three children: Scott Sanborn and his wife Sheila of Standish, Rex Sanborn of Buxton, and Dawn Sanborn of Buxton. They have two grandchildren, Jennifer and Michelle and four great-grandchildren, (he was “Bampa” and she was “Nanny” to their great-grandchildren) and several nieces and nephews.
Gordon and Donna will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Buxton.
