It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne R. Lyon. Wayne died peacefully from complications of COPD at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA on the evening of March 10, 2025. He was 81 ½ years old.
Wayne lived his whole life in Southeast Massachusetts. He joined the US Navy in 1965 and served during the Viet Nam conflict. Wayne was always proud of his military service, and it had been his childhood ambition to join the US Navy.
He worked in various jobs finishing and repairing car parts and related objects. Throughout his life he loved and owned several hot cars. Wayne had a brilliant mind and was very good at mechanical trivia. If you asked, for instance, he could tell you how to rebuild a carburetor on a 1936 Ford coupe. Later in life he loved, collected and repaired vintage musical instruments, and old cameras and watches. In the process of rebuilding guitars, he taught himself to play them.
Wayne was born on July 12, 1943 in Rockland, MA to John and Madeline Lyon. He is survived by his three brothers and their wives, Kenny and Phil, Gary and Terri, and Doug and Carol Lyon, and one nephew Thomas Lyon. Also surviving Wayne are his many grand and great-grand nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Madeline Lyon and four nephews and two nieces, Ricky, Johnny, Craig and Jimmy Lyon, and Carrie Anne Kessock(Lyon) and Terry Brulliard.
