Obituary

Augustine J. “Gus” Salois Sr., 66, of New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Friday, May 9, 2025.

Born on December 10, 1958, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Gus was the son of the late Mildred and Eugene Salois. He grew up in North Andover as one of thirteen children.

Gus married the love of his life, Beth Salois, at St. Michael’s Church in North Andover. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter. They raised four children side by side and were married for decades until Beth’s passing in 2019 after a battle with cancer. Not a day went by that Gus didn’t miss her, and we take comfort in knowing they are now reunited.

A longtime machine operator at ITC, Gus took pride in his work and forged lasting friendships with colleagues who became like family. Outside of work, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing on a quiet day, tinkering with small engines, and spending time with his dog, Finny.

Gus’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He was a devoted father who would drop everything to help his children and grandchildren, no matter what they needed. His presence was steady, strong, and selfless.

He is survived by his four children: A.J. and his wife Megan, and their children Zoey and Axel; his daughter Amy and her daughter Lacey; his son Jeremy; and his daughter Ashley and her children Alexis, Julia, and Brian Jr. He was a proud and loving “Papa” to his six grandchildren, who will always remember his laugh and the time spent together.

Gus was predeceased by siblings Eugene H. Salois Jr., Patricia Savage, Richard Salois, Rose Salois Bouchard, and Stephen Salois. He is survived by siblings Elizabeth Witkowski, Albert Salois, Christina Coco, Dennis Salois, Deborah Dube, Gayle Andrews, and Teresa Minahan.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home, with burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gus’s memory to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua, to help more dogs like Finny find their forever homes.
