Obituary

LACONIA ---- It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Normand ‘Norm’ Morin, on Thursday, May 8, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left us at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with chronic kidney disease, dementia and cancer.

Born on April 5, 1949, in Laconia, New Hampshire, Norm spent his life in the Lakes Region. Here he built a legacy rooted in hard work, quiet strength, and deep devotion to those he loved most.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Morin, and their three children: Jeffrey Morin and his fiancée Jessica Papia, Angela McCarty and her husband Kevin, and Alicia Gardner and her husband Matthew. Normand took immense pride in his grandchildren: Cody Morin and his wife Mariama, Drew Morin, Mariah Finley-Gardner and her husband Tripp Norwood, Emily Gardner, Haily McCarty, and Caleb McCarty - each of whom carry forward the lessons, humor, and love he shared with them throughout their lives. His legacy also lives on in his great-grandchildren, D’Angelo, Jayden, and Masirey, cherished members of the ever-growing Morin family.

Normand spent most of his professional life as a plumber and pipe-fitter, known for his meticulous craftsmanship, resourcefulness, and determination to get the job done right. He took great pride in his work and was always willing to put in the extra effort to solve a problem or fine-tune a detail. Later in life, he brought that same dedication to his own business, the Meredith Case N Keg, where his entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic shone for over a decade. His hands were never idle - always building, fixing, tinkering, or lending a hand with someone else’s project. Whether in his workshop or around the house, Normand found purpose and pride in creating and caring for the things, and people, he loved.

An outdoorsman at heart, Norm found peace in nature and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, boating, and hunting, and throughout the years, he explored many hobbies that reflected his natural curiosity and creativity, including archery and, earlier in life, building and flying remote control planes. In retirement, he embraced the seasons. In the spring and summer, he could often be seen on his riding lawn mower, carefully tending his yard with pride. He also enjoyed spending time in his backyard pool, always entering with a splash. In the fall, Norm looked forward to watching Patriots games on TV - a tradition he treasured and rarely missed. Come winter, he turned his attention to spreading holiday cheer, crafting festive displays of lights and music in his yard that brightened the neighborhood and lifted spirits year after year.

Normand also had a deep love for animals. Throughout his life, he shared his home with several beloved cats and dogs. Among them, two stood out as favorites: Fenway, his loyal hunting dog, and Tucker, his cat and faithful companion in recent years. Like the rest of his family, they were constants in his life, offering him comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.

The Morin family will forever hold close the many memories made throughout a lifetime spent together - learning to ride bikes in the driveway, enjoying Saturday night dinners out, and celebrating family holidays and birthdays with love and laughter. They will remember the magical trips to Disney World, the peaceful days spent at the family camp on Lake Winnisquam, and the cherished annual trips to York Beach filled with sun and sand. Each of these moments, big and small, became treasured traditions that will live on in their hearts forever.

Though his final years brought many challenges, Normand faced them with quiet resilience and strength. His legacy lives on through the values he lived by - hard work, kindness, humility, and unwavering love for his family. He touched countless lives and will be remembered not only for what he did, but for how he made others feel: supported, welcomed, and loved.

The Morin family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Granite VNA hospice services and nurses for the compassionate care they provided to Norm during his final weeks.

Normand will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service celebrating Normand’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 11:00am, at Union Cemetery, in Laconia, NH. The service site is located near the second entrance off of Garfield Street (across from Sacred Heart Cemetery entrance).
