Obituary

Fairley Jack “Flap” Hutchinson, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Lax Holiness Cemetery in Coffee County, Georgia, with the Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Hutchinson was born August 4, 1944, in Lax, Georgia, to the late George O. & Lilla Law Hutchinson. He worked as a truck driver for Ryder in Tennessee and also drove for O.L. Luke. He loved to fish and ride horses and had a passion for singing. Mr. Hutchinson appeared on the Grand Ole Opry on the “Jimmy Snow Show”. He also opened for Stonewall Jackson and Bill Anderson. He sang a duet with Loretta Lynn at a show in Douglas. He also performed many songs at the famous “Tootsie’s” in Nashville, Tennessee along with many other venues on Broadway in Nashville. He attended Lax Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Theresa Cerveny Hutchinson; children and extended family: Vic & Tina Hutchinson of Macon, Jason Hutchinson of Tifton, David “Buddy” Lavender, Jr. & LaVonna of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Christine & Greg James of Fitzgerald, and Charlene & Lehman Faulkner of Nichols; grandchildren: Shannon Phillips, Leslie Dawson, Lisa Lavender, Leighann Lavender, Danielle Lavender, Hailey & Craig Crenshaw, Erika James, Coty James, Haley Grace Hutchinson, J.C. Lindsey and Makayla Lindsey; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances & Morris Griffin of Lax. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Daniel Mark Lavender.

Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla, is in charge of arrangements.
