Naomi A. Nelson, 54

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Naomi A. (Tyrrell) Nelson, age 54, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at her home on Friday, May 9, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Kevin R. Nelson, to whom she wed on October 21, 1989.

Born in Brockton, MA on January 8, 1971, she was a loving daughter of the late Kenneth J., Sr. and Betty (Walls) Tyrrell.

Naomi grew up in East Bridgewater and was educated in East Bridgewater Public Schools. She continued her education, first receiving her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate from Southeastern Technical Institute and later an Associate’s Degree as a Registered Nurse at Massasoit Community College in Brockton.

A healthcare professional, Naomi worked over thirty years in the medical field and at the present time was employed as a Registered Nurse at Sturdy Health Pediatrics in Attleboro. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past thirty years.

Naomi’s greatest joy and gift in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Family always came first, and time spent on the beautiful beaches of Florida and Aruba with family and friends was a pleasure Naomi treasured very much. She loved hosting the holidays at her home in Mansfield, especially Friendsgiving, and always looked forward to Winesdays with her close-knit and valued neighbors. Naomi’s other hobbies included scrapbooking and crafting and at the time of her death, she was eagerly anticipating the soon to be birth of her second grandchild.

In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her devoted children, James M. Nelson and his wife Jillian of Swansea, Kylie C. Nelson and her husband Justin Connolly of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Second Lieutenant Daniel S. Nelson, a pilot in the United States Air Force stationed in Florida. She was the cherished and ever-so-proud grandmother of Madison Nelson. She was the dear sister of Nellie M. Kelley and her husband Richard of Maine, Kenneth J. Tyrrell, Jr. of Maine and Martin G. Tyrrell and his wife Karen of East Bridgewater. She was the much-loved daughter-in-law of Bonnie Nelson of Mansfield and the late Richard Nelson. She was the cherished sister-in-law of Cindy DelSanto and her husband Nicholas of Rehoboth and is also survived by her loving cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as her many close and devoted friends.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, May 18th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
