KEVIN EDWARD KENNEDY, 80, passed away peacefully on one of his favorite days, St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2025, at the Isabella Geriatric Center in New York City. He was born in 1944 to the late Arthur and Helen (nee O’Rourke) Kennedy, and was the cherished brother of Most Reverend Arthur Kennedy of Boston, Terrence and his wife, Kathleen of Plymouth, the late Christopher Kennedy of New York City, Brian Kennedy and his wife, Gail of West Roxbury, and his sister Maurabeth Chilson of Yarmouthport. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Kevin was a distinguished graduate of the Boston Latin School where he excelled in proclamation and debate; he also was a graduate of Maryknoll College in Illinois and taught for several years in the Chicago Elementary School System. From there he moved to Soho, NYC and pursued his theatrical and artistic talent. He ultimately opened his own studio, ‘The Spoken Line’, where he created his hand-sketched greeting cards, and excelled in capturing his view of landscapes in Impressionists’ style.
Over time, Kevin’s health failed, impacting his ability to draw and paint, and he ultimately became a resident of the Isabella Geriatric Center, where he received incredible care from the most dedicated team and staff, especially Janet Richman, Lane Tatman, Fr. Matthew Ugowi, and Maria Martinez. His brothers, Christopher and Brian also became dependable resources to Kevin over the years. Kevin will be interred in New York City with his brother, Christopher, who passed away in December, 2023.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, May 14th at 10:00 at Holy Name Church, located at 1689 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Isabella Geriatric Center, 515 Audubon Ave., NYC, NY 10040.
