James Kenneth Harrington - 35 years old, of Marshfield, died suddenly in Boston, August 14. Also known as "Jimmy Reject", James was the former drummer of the Dimestore Haloes and author of 2 books: The Enemy's Within and Notes on Johnny Nihil. James was also a prolific writer of music reviews for magazines and "sanzines" such as Fat City. James graduated from Marshfield High School in 1989 and graduated from Massasoit Community College with a degree in Communications. As a drummer for the "Haloes" James traveled and played gigs in Baltimore, Chicago and in Boston at TT the Bears, The Middle East and several other venues. After his book, Notes on Johnny Nihil was completed, the Boston Phoenix wrote a feature article about him including information about James' battle with Schizophrenia and Bi-Polar Disease. This battle lasted for 22 years and James fought bravely to find ways to accomplish his goals. He was a hero to his family and friends, for the grace and tremendous courage with which he led his life. James leaves his father Peter N. Harrington of Quincy, his mother Deborah Harrington-Podbelski of Marshfield, his sisters, Diana Scolponeti of Hanover and Emily Harrington of NYC. He also leaves his step-father Frederick Podbelski, his step-mother Phuong Keefe and his brother in law John Scolponeti. James leaves his grandmother Dorothy M. Jones of Kingston, his aunt Terry Harrington of Salisbury and uncle Kenneth Jones of Rochester, NH.
Services will be held on Saturday August 19, at 11:00 AM in the North Community Church, Marshfield Hills. Visiting hours Friday August 18 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St, Route 139, MARSHFIELD.
