FLOYD G. DUNMIRE OBITUARY
Floyd George Dunmire, 80, of Rochester Mills, PA passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Indiana Regional Medical Center in Indiana, PA.
The son of Thomas E. and Erma E. (Lawson) Dunmire, he was born on April 14, 1945 in Smithtown, Indiana Co., PA.
On May 10, 1969 he married Donna Jean Smyers and they have shared almost fifty-six years of marriage together.
Floyd worked as a mechanic in the Blairsville, PA area, prior to his ten year employment as a coal miner with Helvetia Coal Mining. He retired from the Marion Center School District after working as a custodian.
He loved attending dirt track racing; doing woodworking projects; hunting; tinkering in the garage and mowing the lawn. One of his favorite pastimes was participating in car shows with his 1971 robin egg blue VW Bug.
Floyd is survived by his wife: Donna; his two sons: Scott Dunmire and wife Traci of Indiana, PA and Darin Dunmire and wife Cindy of Clymer, PA; his four grandchildren: Haley; Cierra; Brandon and Leah Dunmire; his siblings: Glenn “Gig” Dunmire; Shirley Stiffler; Leonard Dunmire; Carol Olechovski; his numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved Tippy, a dilute tortoiseshell cat.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his ten siblings: Mary Ellen Fisher; Helen Conrad; Alice Conrad; and Thomas, Robert Blair; Harold, Dwight, Ralph, Marlin and Kenneth Dunmire.
In respect with Floyd’s wishes, there will not be a visitation or service. Private arrangements are with the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA.
Memorial donations may be made to: Four Footed Friends at 220 Beck Road, Indiana, PA where members of their pet family had been adopted before becoming part of the Dunmire home.
