Obituary

Irving “Irv” Arouh
May 5, 1925- May 4, 2025

Irving (“Irv”) Arouh of Anderson, Indiana passed away on May 4, 2025, one day shy of his 100th birthday.

His parents were immigrants from Salonica (Thessaloniki) Greece in the early 1900’s. His father, Lazar Hasday Aruh (later spelled Arouh), was a grocer in New Brunswick, New Jersey and served in WWI. His mother, Anna, had four sons and two daughters, Irv being the second oldest, born on May 5, 1925 in New Brunswick.

Irv served in the U.S. Army stateside during WWII. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from Rutgers University and spent his entire career with Philadelphia Quartz Company, serving as plant manager in Augusta, Georgia, Highland Lakes, New Jersey, and Anderson, Indiana.

While in Augusta, he met his future wife, Margaret Moore Kelly, and they were wed on June 12, 1969. Irv adopted Margaret’s son, William Kelly (“Rocky”) Arouh and soon thereafter moved the family to Highland Lakes.

Irv lived a long and peaceful life. He was a wonderful husband of 55 years, friend, father, grandfather and uncle. He and Margaret faithfully attended Anderson United Methodist Church. Later in life he received a master’s degree in art from Ball State University which fueled his love of painting and pottery. He was an avid tennis player and workout enthusiast. Irv rode quarter horses and bred standard poodles. According to his granddaughter, she would have never passed a math class without her Papa’s tutoring! He loved opera, playing the piano, and singing MacArthur Park. With Margaret at his side, they traveled the world. A life truly well lived! His memory will be cherished.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Anderson Museum of Art, 32 West 10th Street, Anderson, IN 46016.
