Obituary

Ms. Linda Jean Burton was born the youngest of five children on August 16, 1959, to Daniel Lee Burton and Geneva Ann Burton in Boston, Massachusetts.

Linda was raised in the church and knew the power of prayer. She prayed like a preacher, trusted God for all things and relied on the Holy Spirit through all things. Her faith in God allowed her to be loving and a living example of His love for others. Her smile, laughter and commitment to service made her stand out wherever she went.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Lyndia Fleury and spouse Delens Fleury, and granddaughter, Anyah Cameron West, sister, Sadie Burton-Goss and spouse Donalexander Goss, brother, Daniel Lee Burton, Jr. and spouse Maria Burton, sisters, Aletha Stewart, Catherine Burton, Danielle March and family, brother Denny March and spouse Tabitha March and family, nieces: Tara Burton and family, Crystal Burton and family; nephews: Daniel Lee Burton III and family, Del-Rushaun Burton and spouse Harriett Burton and family, Donalexander Goss, Jr. and family.

She leaves to mourn, her extended family, including Promise Academy and Arnone Elementary School.

Although she loved her family with devotion and dedication, nothing brought her greater joy than being Lyndia’s mother and Anyah’s grandmother. She talked about them with excitement, and was proud of every little thing they did, from their first steps to the first days of school; they were her pride and joy.

Linda started working early in life and enjoyed employment in a variety of industries, including state government at the Registry of Motor Vehicles. But she was most proud of her work at the Brockton Public School System where she worked for over 27 years and was known by students as Ms. Linda.

She originally chose to work in the school system so that she could be home with her daughter after school and to spend summers with her, but it was the love of her colleagues and students that brought her back to faithfully work in 9 schools for almost three decades. “She was loved by students and staff. She always showed care and interest in them. She was one of ours. We will miss her storytelling. She will be more than missed.”-Colleague.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 4-7pm at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte 123), Brockton.
