Rosemary P. “Rose” (Poor) Sullivan, age 70, a resident of Tewksbury for 48 years, formerly of Melrose, passed away at her home on Monday, May 5, 2025, following a brief illness.
She was the beloved wife of Dennis T. Sullivan, with whom she celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on October 16, 2024.
Born in Boston on February 10, 1955, she was the daughter of the late William A. Poor and the late Roberta (Flemming) Poor.
Rose was raised in Charlestown and Stoneham by her grandmother, the late Mary (Moran) (Poor) Bear.
She attended local schools and graduated from Stoneham High School in 1972. Following graduation, Rose attended Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown.
Prior to retiring, Rose worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in the North Reading, Westford, and Tewksbury offices.
In her spare time, Rose treasured watching her sons and grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with her sisters and brothers. In addition, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, craft projects, and watching investigative television shows especially “Investigator”.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons, Timothy D. Sullivan and his former wife, Danielle, James M. Sullivan and his former wife, Mara, and William Sullivan and his wife Jackie: seven grandchildren, Emma and Timothy Sullivan II, Alexis and Lucy Sullivan, and William, Skyla, and Thomas Sullivan.
Rose was the sister of Maureen D. Skinner, Ruth Ann Boris and her husband Jeffrey, Karen D. Mahoney and her former husband Jack, Kathleen M. Walker and her late husband Lee, Brian F. Poor, Kevin A. Poor and his wife Patrice, and the late Raymond A. Poor and the late William H. Poor.
Rose leaves her sister-in-law, Diane Mahan and her husband Thomas: her brother-in-law, Brian Sullivan. Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Tewksbury Youth Baseball, 90 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
