Obituary

Elaine (Spiewak) Pepin, age 77, passed away on May 2, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born on February 3, 1948 in Springfield, daughter of the late Joseph and Jane (Filar) Spiewak. Elaine worked as an administrative assistant for the Commissioner of Probation in Springfield for over 30 years before she retired. She loved Vermont, Niantic Connecticut and any beach, the sights and sounds of the ocean brought her peace. She loved live music, loved attending concerts at Tanglewood and Symphony Hall and was a big fan of James Taylor, Crosby, Stills, & Nash and Chicago. She enjoyed breakfast, cooking, reading, shopping and spending time with her friends and family -family especially Donald(deceased) and Maryann Pepin of Falmouth,: friends including Shirley, Jennifer, Marion, Valerie, Eileen, Barbara, Alzira, Debbie and many many others. She was pre-deceased by her close friend Robert Grainger of Chicopee, who she missed dearly. She loved watching her children and grandchildren grow from infancy into productive young adults and was very proud of their accomplishments. Elaine loved to watch her son's Weimaraners throughout the years-Orion, Danny, Starr, Aslan. She and the staff of every healthcare facility she was in over the past 2 years enjoyed the calmness and comfort that her Weimaraner grand-dog Cabela gave to everyone she met. She is survived by her son David Pepin of Chicopee; one daughter Tara Pepin-Laizer and her husband Ron Faye of Chicopee; one brother, Robert Garczynski of Chicopee; two sisters, Joan Maggi of Wilbraham and Sandra Kieltyka of Westfield and two beloved grandchildren, Emilie Sikorski and her husband William and Hunter Laizer and his girlfriend Gabrielle Aube. David would like to especially thank the staffs of Mary's Meadow, Renaissance Manor, River Mills Assisted Living, Caretenders, and Powerback Rehabilitation for their skill, patience and understanding since Elaine became ill. All arrangements are per Elaine's wishes, and her ashes will be spread following honoring that. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Friday, May 9, 2025 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Stanislaus Basilica at 10:00 AM.
