Suzanne Cora (Applegate) Costello, 88, of Franklin died May 1 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston. She was the wife of the late John E. Costello who died in 2023.
Born in South Boston, November 30, 1946, the daughter of the late Ellsworth S. and Mary C. (Yetman) Applegate, Suzanne was raised in Boston and had lived in Franklin since 1970.
Suzanne had been an LPN at several area hospitals.
Suzanne met the love of her life (John) at age 15. They went on to marry when she was only 17.
In 1970, John and Suzanne bought their dream home and moved to Franklin.
Suzanne enjoyed vacation trips to Cape Cod, entertaining friends at her pool and dining at her and her husband favorite restaurants.
She is survived by her sister Estelle “Chicky” Bonia of Fort Myers, Florida and her brother-in-laws William P. Fraser and James Costello, her sister-in-laws Fay (Nelson ) Donnell and Mary Josephine (Costello) Glorioso, and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Harriet Fraser, Richard Xavier Donnell, Walter John Applegate, Ellsworth Stanley Applegate III and William Francis Applegate.
Suzanne’s family and friends are thankful to the management and staff at the Franklin Senior Center, who helped Suzanne enjoy such a high quality of life in her golden years.
Services will be held in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com) Friday, May 9 at Noon.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Franklin.
Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00-Noon in the funeral home, just prior to the service.
