BUXTON- Rachel Gallant, 54, of Buxton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side
on May 3, 2025, at Maine Medical Center. Rachel was born on May 12, 1970, in Portland,
Maine, the daughter of the late Donald and Rebecca (Dixon) Hanson. Rachel married Larry
Gallant, the love of her life, on September 15, 1990. Rachel’s proudest achievement was
being a homemaker and raising her children and grandchildren. Rachel was blessed to live
in the Dixon family farmhouse in Buxton with her daughters Catherine Sandberg and
Rebecca Temm, who took care of her though many illnesses. Rachel’s greatest joy was
spending time with her grandchildren who lived with her, Chase, Leira, Liam, Hadley, Brody,
Carter, and Caitlin, and watching them grow.
Rachel was also blessed to have her son Thomas Gallant live on the same family land.
Rachel also loved spending time with her sister, Joanne Hanson Pearson, and her nieces
Allie and Sydney Pearson. Rachel had her own bedroom at her sister’s house and spent a
lot of time there.
Everyone that met Rachel loved her. Her genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all
who had the privilege of knowing her. Rachel was a loving person who was kind,
compassionate, and always looking out for other people. She made friends with everyone
that came into her life, including the medical professionals that regularly came to her home
to provide her with care. Although Rachel endured so many health issues through the
years, she always handled them with strength and courage. Rachel always found the
positive in every situation and continued to always put her family and friends first.
