Vivian (DiGregorio) Fay, age 88, of Medford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Vivian was the devoted wife of the late Edward Fay and a deeply loving mother to Dean, Michael, David, and Michele as well as her step-children Robert, Rachael and Eric. Her life was defined by selflessness, warmth, and a deep dedication to the people around her. She had an infectious personality that left a lasting impression—gathering friends wherever she went, simply by being herself.
Born and raised in Somerville, Vivian graduated from Somerville High School before marrying Joseph DiGregorio and moving to Medford, where she raised her family. She spent many years working in accounting for a large container shipping company, where her sharp mind and meticulous nature were well recognized. After retiring, she and her beloved husband Ed enjoyed many joyful years together in Florida.
Vivian's greatest joy came from being with family. She loved to dance, especially to swing and big band music, and had a passion for word puzzles. But nothing gave her more satisfaction than preparing meals—always cooking far more than necessary, firmly believing that not having enough food was a sin. Her kitchen was filled with love, laughter, and enough food to feed a neighborhood.
She is survived by her children: Dean DiGregorio and his wife Donna, Michael DiGregorio and his wife Linda, David DiGregorio and his wife Laura, Michele Wise and her husband Paul, Robert Fay and his wife Tomoe, Rachael Ibbetson and her husband Mike and Eric Fay. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Derek, Jenna, Kristen, Bryan, Danielle, Michael, Matthew, Joseph, Leah, Heather, Hannah, Jake, Luke, Ethan and Christopher along with her adored great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and a loving friend and “second daughter,” Simoni Karantonis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, May 10 from 9 – 11 AM, followed by a celebration of Vivian’s life at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Vivian will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous spirit, and her deep belief in caring for others before herself. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.
