Alex J. “Mac” McDonald, 68, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, May 2, 2025, at his residence.
He was born May 23, 1956, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to the late Edwin & June Bergman McDonald.
Mac graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School, class of 1974. Following graduation, he began his lifelong calling as a first responder in law enforcement. While on patrol, he met the love of his life, the former Susan Pearson. They were blessed to be married for 48 years.
Field Training Officer was his favorite position in law enforcement. As an FTO, he was nicknamed Obi-Wan because he seemed to possess similar powers. Mac, who loved telling a good story, published two crime investigation novels. To the end of his life, he loved hunting and his hunting buddies.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Susan McDonald, are his son, Tony McDonald and his wife, Leslie; grandchildren: Kylie, Amanda (James), and Jordan; and great-grandchildren: Layken, Jamey, and Bowen.
A small private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
