Catherine M. “Kay” (O’Donnell) Heerter, a longtime resident of Malden and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was 80 years of age.
Kay was born in Boston on February 22, 1945, a daughter of the late John O’Donnell and Anna (Crogan) O’Donnell. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system. Kay worked as a meat wrapper for the First National Stores, Edwards Grocery Store, and Johnnie’s Foodmaster to help provide for her beloved family. She loved dancing, listening to music was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards.
Kay is the beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Heerter. She is the devoted mother of Michael Heerter, Kathleen Frongillo, and the late Christine Heerter and Thomas A. Heerter. She is the loving Nana to Charles Wilk and Justin Frongillo. She is the dear sister of the late Dorothy Egan, Ann Yandle, Mary O’Halloran, Evelyn Collier, Grace Stella, John O’Donnell, James O’Donnell, and Joseph O’Donnell. She is also survived by her beloved dog Zoe and her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Kay’s visiting hours on Monday morning, May 5, 2025, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
