Carl G. Lundell, III, 80

Carl G. “Gus” Lundell, III, age 80, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Lewis) Lundell, to whom he was wed for fifty-four years.

Born in Boston, MA on August 6, 1944, he was a loving son of the late Carl G. “Gus”, Jr. and Charlotte (Dudley) Lundell.

Gus grew up in Canton and was a 1962 graduate of Canton High School. He continued his studies earning a Bachelor Degree from Northeastern University. A resident of Mansfield for the past fifty-two years, Mr. Lundell spent the majority of his working career as a computer programmer at the Foxboro Co.

Gus’s greatest passions in life were his family, sports and the childhood memories spent with family and friends in Manomet. A lifelong lover of all sports, Carl had the honor and privilege of sharing his love for sports as a coach for his children’s Little League teams and CYO basketball.

An avid golfer, Gus was a member of the Norton Country Club and also enjoyed golfing at the Bay Pointe Golf Course in Onset. He was an active softball player and loved bright and sunny days swimming at Shell Point Beach in Onset. Gus remained very active in his retirement years and could often be found tending to his yard in Mansfield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Kristin F. Mockus and her husband Michael of Needham, David A. Lundell and his wife Shana of Bourne and Michael G. Lundell and his wife Valerie of Attleboro. He was the proud and cherished grandfather of Tyler, Rylie and Hailey Mockus, Sharlotte, Alexa and Carli Lundell and Landon Lundell. He was the dear brother of Richard A. Lundell and his wife Susan of Mansfield.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, May 8th from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

A service in celebration of his life with personal reflections by his family will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours on Thursday from 5:00-6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Gus’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
