Obituary


Joseph J. Maggiore, Sr. of Woburn formerly of Medford passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 30 2025 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. He was 93. Joseph was the beloved husband of Phyllis L. (Costa) Maggiore and the late Rita (Lepore) Maggiore. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Anthony and Beatrice (Mucci) Maggiore.

Raised and educated in Medford, Joseph was a 1949 graduate of Medford High School. He was a proud United States Army Veteran of the Korean War era attaining the rank of Corporal prior to his honorable release from active duty. Joseph had a long career in the construction industry working in the family business, Maggiore Construction Co., developing and building commercial properties all over the greater Boston area. A lover of music, Joseph was a talented musician playing the accordion since he was a young boy and throughout his time in the Army entertaining the troops, family, and friends over the years. For many years Joseph enjoyed spending the winter months in Boca Raton, FL where he enjoyed playing golf and bocce. However, Joseph's greatest joy was his family, and nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by those he loved. Joseph will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather always kind and generous. He will be greatly missed.

Joseph was the devoted father of Joseph J. Maggiore, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Medford, Stephanie Maggiore and her wife Lynne Glancy of Haverhill, Sandra Quatromoni and her husband William of Florida, Linda Forester and her husband Andy of Wilmington. He is also survived by 10 loving grandchildren and 12 loving great grandchildren. Brother of Anthony R. Maggiore and his wife Judy of Florida, the late Annette Michienzi and Jean Salemi. He is further survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, May 5th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Joseph's memory to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St., Reading, MA 01867.
